With over 660 attendees, Field Service USA proved once again to be a preeminent event for the service industry.  Jeff Oskin, President and CEO of Jolt, led the Service Innovation track and discussions from service executives from Dell, DirecTV, Durst Image Technology, EMCOR, Mastec and others.

As part of the Service Innovation track, Jolt highlighted 2 trends the company is seeing:

1) Technology confusion in the marketplace as a result of consolidation.

2) Subcontractor management challenges resulting from service organization’s desire to increase their service portfolio.

Jolt also hosted a private session for service executives from 22 companies focused on sharing perspectives on the latest trends in service delivery.

Technology Confusion

The service industry growth has attracted the attention of financial community (i.e., private equity firms, investment banks) who are investing significantly in technology companies.  This series of technology company consolidation is causing confusion and uncertainty for existing and prospective users as the technology companies “message” to stake claims and attempt to differentiate from competition.  In many cases, the technology companies desire to move to the enterprise level which is creating a “vacuum” for emerging technology players, especially in mid-market sector.

At FS USA, Jolt released a whitepaper describing this trend and implications to service organizations; “Disruption in the Field Service Software Space and Challenges to Software Selection”.  Click here to receive a copy of the whitepaper.

Subcontractor Management Challenges

There is an increasing trend for service organizations to utilize third party subcontractors as either a supplement or extension of their field service workforce.  One of the key challenges service organizations face with utilizing third party subcontractors is the need to maintain a consistent quality of service delivery that aligns with both customer and their internal service company expectations.

Jolt released a whitepaper describing this trend and implications to service organizations; “Effective Subcontractor Management for Field Service Delivery”.  Click here to receive a copy of the whitepaper.
